Nicole V In The City: Chico To Sacramento Chico to Sacramento  CityOfSacramento  on the train has been fun to discover.  To go from Chico to Sac (as the locals call it) takes about an hour and half.  Instead of driving and keeping your eye on the road, to ride the train give you the opportunity to see the pretty farmlands and animals. Some of the views are impeccable.   The first time I was ever in Sacramento, I was nine, visiting some family on my father's side.  All the other times after that I flew in from their airport only  FlySMF I often talk about taking a drive to Sacramento, but I've been busy to do it.   My sister and I next month will be hopping on the Gold Rush train  amtrakvacations/gold-rush  from Sacramento Valley Station to Bakersfield, California.  Then we get on an Amtrak bus that will take us to union station in downtown L.A. Next we get on the Surfliner train that will take us to Orange County.  I can't wait...

Nicole V In The City: How The Train Mystifies Me Every time The more I ride the train, the more curious I am about it.  From the people I met, to the sights and sounds.  It all has a vibe and energy to it.   It was a perfect Summer day and I was on my way back to Chico, California from Cambria California.  The Amtrak offers such a brilliant different perspective than taking a plan or car drive to your destinations.  I almost wish I had taken a train for my work commute.  Especially in a big city like L.A.  Being from Los Angeles,  DiscoverLosAngeles  I never had taken advantage of the trains that were offered for a way of commuting.  My good friend Jackie used to take the train to work, and I was always fascinated by it.   She lived at least fifteen miles past where I lived so it made sense for her to take a train.  Metrolinktrains  was the name of the train that Jackie used to take.  She told me she would read a boo...

Nicole V In The City: Napa Wine Train 2022 I don't think it counts that the first train ride I took was at Disneyland that goes around the park.  Or The Big Thunder Mountain ride that is at Disneyland doesn't count either.  These are just rides.    I think the next train I took was the  Napa Valley Wine Train I have taken this fun wine train ride at least five or six times.  I have done this touristy adventure for lunch and dinner.  I have even spent New Year's Eve on the Napa Valley Wine train.   This excursion is a three hour ride.  It goes from downtown Napa to St. Helena.   Do Napa It takes an hour and a half each way. The speed of the train does not go very fast so you can take in the lovely sweet beautiful sights of the vineyards that surround the stunning breathtaking valleys and actually enjoy your glass or two of wine that compliments the food on the train perfectl...
