I don't think it counts that the first train ride I took was at Disneyland that goes around the park.  Or The Big Thunder Mountain ride that is at Disneyland doesn't count either.  These are just rides.  

I think the next train I took was the Napa Valley Wine Train I have taken this fun wine train ride at least five or six times.  I have done this touristy adventure for lunch and dinner.  I have even spent New Year's Eve on the Napa Valley Wine train.  

This excursion is a three hour ride.  It goes from downtown Napa to St. Helena.  Do Napa It takes an hour and a half each way. The speed of the train does not go very fast so you can take in the lovely sweet beautiful sights of the vineyards that surround the stunning breathtaking valleys and actually enjoy your glass or two of wine that compliments the food on the train perfectly.  Each meal is designed to pair with delicious red or white wines that make the adventure that much more special.   

The last time I was on this ride,  it was back in May of 2022.  I went with my late husband Brian and other friends that we adore.  For my late husband and my friends this was their first time to Napa, and it was their first time on the magnificent wine train.  We had a decadent time.  Our excursion started at 10am and went to 1pm.  We had lunch and a couple of bottles of wine on the way to St. Helena.  On the way back we were switched to the dessert car where we had tasty cheesecake, warm silky chocolate cake and coffee that complimented the whole experience even more.  


I still wanted just one more glass of wine and decided to hang out on the very back of the train.  There I found myself outside at the back of the train, amongst the fragrant vineyards.  I could smell the dirt, and the vines.  It is such an inviting escape.  For a moment, my soul aligned itself with the sight of nature and the sounds and feels of the train and carried me back to the train station.  


One of my favorite days of being in Napa and experiencing the last train ride Brian ever took, makes this day especially special for me.  One that I will never ever forget. Visit Napa Valley

                    Nicole V In The City, San Francisco Style           My second  train ride adventure was just this past Summer in June. I decided to hop on a different train this time and take the Capitol Corridor that goes from Sacramento Valley Station to different stops on the outskirts of San Francisco California.  This specific train will take you as far as San Jose, California.  I went to Emeryville, which was about thirty minutes outside of San Francisco. to visit one of my cousins who lives right in the heart of the "foggy city."  I arrived in Emeryville, on a Friday afternoon after a three hour excursion.  I always have great moments while traveling to my destinations via train. Nicole V In The City - Union Station DTLA To Sacramento California Summer 2023
