Nicole V In The City: Chico To Sacramento


Chico to Sacramento CityOfSacramento on the train has been fun to discover.  To go from Chico to Sac (as the locals call it) takes about an hour and half.  Instead of driving and keeping your eye on the road, to ride the train give you the opportunity to see the pretty farmlands and animals. Some of the views are impeccable.  

The first time I was ever in Sacramento, I was nine, visiting some family on my father's side.  All the other times after that I flew in from their airport only FlySMF

I often talk about taking a drive to Sacramento, but I've been busy to do it.  

My sister and I next month will be hopping on the Gold Rush train amtrakvacations/gold-rush from Sacramento Valley Station to Bakersfield, California.  Then we get on an Amtrak bus that will take us to union station in downtown L.A. Next we get on the Surfliner train that will take us to Orange County.  I can't wait!


The night before we leave out of Sacramento next month, my sister and I decided that we would spend the night there and explore downtown Sacramento.  I only went there once with a friend.  Somebody I actually met on the train. He showed me all around downtown Sacramento.  We walked through a tunnel of murals that his family had done.  I got to see the history of the town, and walk old wooden decks instead of usual hard concrete. 


From access to the golden 1 arena, to old Irish bars, candy store.  There are lots of places to check out in old town Sacramento.  

Although she and I are going to drive to Sacramento from Chico, I still used my pictures that I took from the train on my way to Sac.  I love capturing all sights that I see.  I like to look at my pictures and recap my memories to them.  This picture below was the first time I had ever walked the grounds of the State Capital of Sacramento.  I felted honored to be there.  If it wasn't for the train, I wouldn't have had quick access to something so historic.




The train is more than just traveling to a destination.  It gives me so much more access to places I want to go and for me to return to.

Nicole V In The City San Francisco Style

                    Nicole V In The City, San Francisco Style           My second  train ride adventure was just this past Summer in June. I decided to hop on a different train this time and take the Capitol Corridor that goes from Sacramento Valley Station to different stops on the outskirts of San Francisco California.  This specific train will take you as far as San Jose, California.  I went to Emeryville, which was about thirty minutes outside of San Francisco. to visit one of my cousins who lives right in the heart of the "foggy city."  I arrived in Emeryville, on a Friday afternoon after a three hour excursion.  I always have great moments while traveling to my destinations via train. Nicole V In The City - Union Station DTLA To Sacramento California Summer 2023

  My late husband and I had a lot of things in common.  One of my favorites was we had a thing for trains.  He especially loved trains.  I think if he could, he would have had a whole room in our home, dedicated to trains.  I didn't mind this hobby at all.  I even bought him one year  for Christmas  a round train track that went around our small Christmas tree.  I thought it was pretty cute.  Before my husband had passed away, he had told me about this  amtrak.com  train ride that goes from Los Angeles to Seattle.  It was a thirty four hour train ride.  I thought it that would be loads of fun.  I real train ride excursion.   He was not able to take this specific train ride, so for the first birthday I had without him, to celebrate him,  I decided to go on this train ride.  I went from downtown Los Angeles, from  unionstationla.com  to  cityofsacramento.gov/valley-station   I had...
